SUBSTANce abuse session at gubbachi learning center
November 3rd, 2025

A session on Substance Abuse was conducted for the teenage students at Gubbachi Learning Community (GLC) by Vijay Sharma from Bangalore Little Theatre assisted by Gazala and Nidhi from NewMorning Trust. The session was conducted with theatre as a backdrop. It was an excellent session where students were given a safe space to express themselves. Message that “it is about the choices you make at every stage of your life” was effectively communicated through story telling. A role play on how to handle peer pressure was fun as well as educational. Ms Preethy Rao, the cofounder GLC, expressed her appreciation and mentioned that the session was very stimulating. NewMorning Trust thanks Mr Vijay Sharma for this very interesting and engaging session.

career guidance session at rotary govt school, melur
September 10th, 2025

Visit to the Rotary Govt High School at village Melur, Sidlaghatta Taluk, Chikkballapur District for conducting Career Guidance session.
Our recent visit to the govt school in Melur reiterates once more the need of talks on career choices and guidance for students from 9th standard onwards if not earlier.
We were warmly welcomed by the Principal of the school and were impressed with the good infrastructure of the school. Later the students of 9th std welcomed us with well chorused set of claps. We started the session by a small activity asking the children to write or draw what they would like to do in future. All had wonderful dreams of joining The police force, becoming a District Collector or taking up Sports like Football or Cricket or becoming a Doctor. These were mostly the only limited professions they could think of. Neither were they aware of all the numerous other careers available nor were they aware of the steps to be taken to move in the direction of their dream future. We did various role plays enacting the doubt’s and thoughts which arise in a child’s mind regarding their future. It resonated well with them. After that we outlined to them the broad outline of the various choices available in Vocational sector apart from the main professional ones.
We are hopeful that our session has awakened and exposed them to the varied choices available in both vocational and other sectors and the need to start slowly thinking and planning about the future. Much more information and processes need to be made known to the children to help them move ahead with steady steps towards their future.
