New Morning team visited the Government school in Huledenahalli village,
Tekal, Kolar district, on the 7 th of November, 2023. This was our third trip to the school in continuation of our life skills program and counselling activities for the 8th , 9th and 10th Students. Our team comprised of Ms.Ritu, Ms.Latha, Ms.Suchetana, Ms.Malathi, Ms.Shobha, Ms.Sangavi and Ms.Anita. We were accompanied by Mr. Krishnakumar of Aarambh Foundation.
After the daily prayers for the students, we began with an Ice breaker game on Communication, in the open grounds which demonstrates the importance of better and clear communication. It was a fun game which was thoroughly enjoyed by the children. This was followed by sessions for the different classes in their respective classrooms.
The Session on Counselling Awareness was conducted for students of grade 8th standard by Ritu, Latha and Anita. The same session was held for the 9th standard students by Sangavi and Suchethana. Here they learnt to identify different emotions and why counselling is important. For the students of 10th standard, a session on introduction to Career guidance and Counselling was conducted by Malathi and Shobha.

After lunch we played one more game called, Bombing the city. The students
enjoyed this game too and it energized them well. After this, the 8th standard
students had a one on one session with our team members, Latha, Ritu and Anitha. While 9th standard students learnt about Time Management
from Sangavi and Suchethana. In this session they learnt the value of time and how to manage it effectively. Shobha and Malathi continued their Career
Guidance session with the 10th standard students and made them realize the importance of choosing the correct stream and path after 10th and how to go about planning their future. The class was then divided into Groups and given a short project to discuss and present their views on the streams available to them. The students found this session very interesting.

This was also followed by tips on preparing for exams as well as to deal with exam anxiety and stress. The sessions were made exciting for the 9th and 10th standard students by playing Passing the Parcel game, in between.
We were also fortunate to meet members of the village panchayat, who
had come to visit the school. We were able to put forward the need for an
internet connection for the school, so that we can also conduct online sessions
for the students.
We were happy to see the smiling faces at the end of our sessions. After taking
the obligatory group photos, we headed back tired yet satisfied. It was
indeed a fruitful and satisfying day for us. We felt blessed to have interacted with almost 100 students on counselling awareness, time management, and career guidance.
